Apple Crisp


Crumble Topping


***Can be prepared ahead of time***

Ingredients: 
1 1/4 cups of flour

10 tablespoons of sugar                

¼ teaspoon of salt
¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon of nutmeg

10 table spoons (1 ¼ sticks) chilled butter



Preparation:

Mix dry ingredients 
Add Butter
Use hands to make crumble  

Cover and chill. 

Filling

Ingredients: 
½ cup of sugar

¼ cup (1/2 stick) butter

2 tablespoons of lemon juice

6 peeled, cored, and quartered apples




Preparation:

***Preheat oven to 375***

Caramel Sauce: 

 Combine sugar and butter over low heat

 Incorporate lemon juice 
Stir until a deep brown color is attained. 
 View after approximately 2 minutes
 View after approximately 3 minutes
After approximately 4 minutes




After approximately 5 minutes

After approximately 6 minutes


After approximately 7 minutes – deep brown color achieved


 Caramel Sauce: 

Add apples to caramel syrup.

 Cover the apples with the caramel syrup
 Spray 9 x 13x2  glass dish with non-stick spray.
Pour apples and caramel syrup into pan. 

Add crumble topping prepared earlier.  

Bake for 50 minutes until topping has browned 
and caramel sauce has bubbled. 



Let cool for approximately 15 minutes.
